I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Backbone revealed a PlayStation-themed version of its excellent mobile controller for Android today. Last but not least, it’s time for Sony to announce that it’s bringing cloud gaming to mobile and tablets. Given that the company revealed the current console for the first time at the first PlayStation Showcase in 2020, we could very well see an updated model tomorrow. There’s a rumor that Sony is making a PS5 with a separate disc drive. There’s a non-zero chance that a PC version of the remake is announced too.īeyond games, I think we’ll get some updates on the hardware side as well. ![]() What better way for Sony to show the fans that it’s listening? Many, many people want a Bloodborne remake even just to have an easy way to play it at 60 frames per second. That would be one way to get more folks into the PS VR2 ecosystem.Īs for what will close out the showcase (at least on the software side), I’m going to take a wild guess and say we finally get news about a Bloodborne remake. Then there’s arguably the biggest third-party VR game Sony can get its hands on in the form of Half-Life Alyx. I’m going to take a swing and say the next Astrobot game will be for PS VR2 and we’ll learn about that tomorrow. Oh yeah, there’s going to be some VR news. ![]() On the other hand, you probably shouldn’t expect a Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal, sadly. There have been murmurings of a new Uncharted game as well, and that seems ripe for an enigmatic teaser and a logo. There are rumors of a new Twisted Metal game, so I’ll say that’ll get a quick announcement tomorrow. Death Stranding 2 seems like a good bet as well. It also seems like it’s time to learn what Bend Studio, Cory Barlog’s team at Santa Monica Studio and Firewalk Studios have been working on. On a similar note, Haven Studios is working on a AAA multiplayer game, and I think we get our first look at that tomorrow. Since we’re moving into an era where Sony will have more of a focus on live service games, shining the spotlight on a multiplayer game from one of its most important franchises seems like a slam dunk. ![]() This showcase is effectively the kickoff of Phase 2 of the PS5 Cinematic Universe. ![]()
